My Uncle

It is a great pleasure for me to present to you a very famous ancestor: The gentleman in dignified pose on this painting is indeed my uncle, or to be precise, my grangrangrangranuncle. Do you know who he is?

Well, the wigged gentleman on the painting is no one else than the undoubtedly famous George Frideric Händel, the composer of the Messiah, the Water Music, the Music for the Royal Fireworks and countless operas and oratorios. He is one of the best-known figures in baroque music and – last, but not least – he is my Uncle. Could it be that a grain of this man’s overwhelming talent has been treasured for centuries and been passed on from generation to generation, in order to flourish some 300 years later in one of his nephews? Well, we should not exaggerate, such a claim could seem pretentious. But the idea to share just a little bit of the musical genius of this great man is still fascinating…
